One of my favorite holiday memories growing up was baking cookies with my mom. Since I was focusing on the final product I never learned the art of baking but it was an event I looked forward to every year. Even though the final product couldn’t come fast enough the time spent helping my mom was always one of my most vivid memories of the holidays.
I no longer have my mom to share the memory so I have started to bake my favorite meatball chocolate chip cookies myself. Even though I manage to mess up the recipe each year it still brings me to a fun place! Below is the recipe for the meatball cookies. If you’re a chocolate person, love sugar (They’re actually rolled in sugar), and want a lot of cookies then this is the recipe for you! Happy Holidays.
6 Eggs
2 cups of Milk
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons of orange extract
1/2 cup oil
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
2 cups of baking sticks
2 cups of sugar
12 teaspoons of baking powder
1 package of chocolate chips
1 1/2 cup of cocoa
10 cups flour
Roll in a ball and dip in sugar
Bake at 350 on a greased pan

Her favorite holiday tradition: “My grandmother always made a dessert we call, quite simply, “pineapple cuts.” They were a favorite for my sister, my cousin Dan & myself and my gram always made an extra dish just for each of us. The Christmas before my gram passed away, my cousin Dan and I got together with her to learn first hand how to make our favorite Christmas dessert. Now Dan and I make sure to get together, just before Christmas, and make a batch for our family’s Christmas Eve party.”

His holiday tradition is going to see It’s a Wonderful Life at the Carolina Theater in Greensboro. It transports him back to 1946 from the Organist that plays Christmas songs to the cartoons they play just before the film starts. It’s really magical and puts him in the holiday spirit!

Her favorite holiday movie is actually a collection of movies from her childhood. Back in the days when people used actual tapes instead of a DVR, her and her family recorded a bunch of Christmas cartoons from TV, like “The Town That Santa Forgot” and a cartoon version of “The 12 Days of Christmas.” It also has “The Flintstones’ Christmas Carol” which has to be her favorite version of the story. The absolute best part? The 90s commercials!
