Lijie
Born in China and raised in the United States, Lijie’s parents pushed her to learn *perfect* English and be the *perfect* student. They also put her in piano lessons, not knowing they were planting the seed for her future dreams as an artist. During college, she was caught cheating on a test, which forever changed the trajectory of her life. “It was something I did, it wasn’t something *bad* done to me. And i knew something had to change.” Too ashamed to tell her family, Lijie vowed to finish school and then pursue music. She later moved to Los Angeles (to her parent’s dismay) and waited tables and played every open mic she could find. It was in LA that she wrote and recorded her first album, Roam. She has since released The Music Maker (which was funded by her fans!), and currently lives in Los Angeles where she is writing and releasing new music and collaborating with other artists and producers. “Music gives the voices in my head an outlet…thank God.”
