“The power of hip-hop is in the stories we choose to tell. Our stories can either build us up or tear us down” – Shaun Boothe
Shaun Boothe is a celebrated TEDx speaker, that has built a thriving international career as an inspirational speaker with his passion for public speaking and hip hop. He spent 10+ years in the music industry; his history includes sharing stages with notable rappers like Snoop Dogg, Lauryn Hill and Kendrick Lamar. After his time on stage, Shaun began looking for a more purposeful path. This led Shaun to create The Unauthorized Biography Series.
Shaun describes the Series as “a musical project that celebrates the world’s greatest cultural icons through biographical rap songs.” Each chapter in the series is a new biography of an influential and iconic figure, like Martin Luther King Jr., Oprah, Serena Williams, and Malala Yousafzai. Shaun creates documentary-style music videos for each chapter and performs them live alongside the video, generating a multi-media experience.
Shaun has been features on Forbes.com, MTV, and Amnesty International. He’s even gained the attention of a couple people that inspired his Biographies, including blog love from Kanye and tweets from Diddy himself.
Shaun chooses people that inspire him. He does the research, fact checks and captures their lives in 4-6 minute songs. He focuses on finding the person’s life purpose and lessons that we can learn from their lives. Shaun’s mission is to entertain and inspire others to achieve their own greatness. That’s why he founded the Live Your Legacy Academy.
Live Your Legacy’s mission is to empower, educate and inspire students to realize their greatest potential. This encompasses helping young leaders to foster a sense of purpose and to motivate students to focus on character over reputation, character over fame, character over circumstances. Live Your Legacy includes the bio performance, and then extracts and expands on key life lessons within the bios in a talk after the performance.
Black History Month and Women’s History Month
In February, we celebrate Black History Month. Shaun’s Biographies include several Black cultural icons like President Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, and so many others. Shaun often customizes his presentation to honor these men and women during the month.
Recently, Shaun has expanded his Biographies and has put together a Women’s Empowerment presentation. The presentation consists of bios for Serena Williams, Oprah Winfrey and Malala Yousafzai. The presentation comes just in times for Women’s History Month in March.
