Lecture Happy Hour

Happy Hour

Jesse started his comedy career in Pittsburgh in 1998. By 2005 he was performing all over the country every night and waking up hung over in strange places every morning. Driving back from a gig he was kindly arrested by two Jersey State Troopers who were not thrilled with the fact that he hit their windshield with a lit cigarette at 80 miles per hour. It was the wake up call he needed.  At the age of 26 he decided to turn things around and rededicate himself to pursuing comedy with a renewed and sober outlook.

Since then, Jesse has been seen on the inaugural season of Comedy Central’s Live At Gotham, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, hosted AMC’s Date Night, as well as appearing on Entertainment Tonight, and is a regular guest on RedEye with Greg Gutfeld on FoxNews. In 2010 he made it into the top 20 semifinalist on this latest season’s Last Comic Standing.

His openness about his struggles with addiction has allowed him to embrace his disease and confront it through humor.  He became a founding member of The Comedy Addiction Tour – a nationally touring group of comedians performing in theaters, rehab centers and prisons bringing poignancy and laughter to people struggling with or people who have been affected by addiction.  Getting sober at the young age of 26 has given him a perspective uniquely qualified to talk to students and young people about the dangers, pitfalls and the warning signs of alcoholism in a darkly funny and original way. Jesse Joyce’s Happy Hour will have colleges laughing and learning about Jesse’s personal story of hitting bottom and the subsequent redemption that can be found in recovery.
