Wordsmith
Wordsmith is a multi-talented artist and entrepreneur from Baltimore, MD. With a career that spans songwriting, poetry, acting, and philanthropy, he has made a significant impact in the creative world. A Grammy Voting Member and artistic partner with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Wordsmith was named one of the 25 Black Marylanders to Watch in 2024 by the Baltimore Sun. He has earned numerous accolades, including five ASCAPLUS Awards and the Best Rap/Hip Hop Album for Perspective Jukebox at the 16th Independent Music Awards.
His music has reached audiences worldwide, featuring on platforms such as WWE, ESPN SportsCenter, and Netflix’s Russian Doll and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Reflecting on his journey, Wordsmith says, “I’ve been blessed to wear many hats in this lifetime, but music has been the universal language that’s allowed me to tour to 11 different countries in my career.”
Music plays a vital role in Wordsmith’s life, acting as both a creative muse and a personal soundtrack. “When it comes to my everyday life, music is attached to memories; good and bad,” he notes. His journey to success in the music industry was a “calculated risk over a 13-year period,” marked by patience and perseverance.
Wordsmith is passionate about using his voice to empower others. “When I write, I’m writing for my community and seeking to be relatable to the blue-collar citizens of the world,” he explains, emphasizing his role as a vocal advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves.
