G Yamazawa

G. Yamazawa is widely considered one of the top young spoken word artists in the country. Born in Durham, NC and raised in a Buddhist household, G is a Kundiman Fellow, National Poetry Slam Finalist, two-time Southern Fried Champion, two-time Individual World Poetry Slam Finalist, and ranked 2nd at the Ontario International Poetry Slam. Most recently, he and his slam team from DC won the 2014 National Poetry Slam in Oakland, CA.  He has featured at venues and universities across the nation including the Sundance Film Festival, Bonnaroo Music Festival, and TV One’s season 3 of Verses and Flow. G most recently won Kollaboration DC and received the Audience Choice Award at Kollaboration Star, the nation’s largest Asian American performance showcase and competition. He currently works as a teaching artist, elementary aftercare teacher, and Busboys & Poets host in Washington, DC.
